SCHOOL PATCH – The “1” represents Bohidharma’s original concept of “unity or oneness of mind, body and spirit”. It is also our Goal; it does not represent what we think we are but what we strive to be, no matter what job we accept.

SHOREI GOJU RYU - Awarded at first formal promotion. On the patch, SHOREI (graceful and beautiful) is symbolized by a pine tree, also representing longevity. GO (hard) JU (soft) is symbolized by a fist, also representing strength. RYU means way, style or system. The red characters say kara Te in Japanese. The white writing within the triangle of the pine tree says Mind, Body, Spirit. The Black Belt encircling these symbols and characters that has dual significance: black represents the vastness of knowledge, the circle, as in the Yin Yang theory, represents that all things end where they began.

BLACK BELT CLUB – Awarded to those who have chosen to become a Black Belt, reminds the Kyu ranks of their commitment to attain Black Belt knowledge, reminds Dan ranks that Mastery begins at Black Belt.

MASTERS CLUB – The Masters Club represents the highest level of our “Success Through Goal Setting” philosophy. Masters Club members are those individuals who have dedicated themselves to continue after their Black Belt level is achieved. Your martial arts learning and growth starts at Black Belt. It is vital to set your new higher goal long before reaching your Black Belt. The Masters Club patch is given to students who have committed themselves to correct karate knowledge and principles. Students must maintain the highest ethics possible and hold in the highest regard the honor of their family, their country, and themselves.
